Una strana presentazione per un forum di studi, ma benvenuta.

È un po' difficile risponderti, proverò a farlo nel modo più semplice e lineare possibile.

Le "stratificazioni" ci sono sia nella redazione dei Vangeli stessi, sia nella loro successiva rilettura teologica. Le buone traduzioni assumono le prime stratificazioni ma non le seconde, le cattive traduzioni (come quella dei Testimoni di Geova, solo per fare l'esempio più famoso) invece le hanno entrambe.

L'equivoco di fondo, tuttavia, è pensare che ciò che leggi nei Vangeli sia una sorta di cronaca della vita di Gesù, con le sue parole originali e via dicendo. Purtroppo non è così: i Vangeli sono un'opera con una finalità teologica scritta dalla Chiesa (per quanto primitiva che fosse) per la Chiesa (presente e futura). Quindi al massimo avrai l'intento e il messaggio della Chiesa primitiva, non quello di Gesù.

Se ti interessa ricostruire la figura e le parole del Gesù storico, le cose si complicano perché ti dovresti cibare di un sacco di letteratura secondaria. Nel mio piccolo consiglio sempre di iniziare dall'opera multi-volume di Meier, Un Ebreo Marginale, limitandosi al volume primo. Se poi ti piace vai avanti, altrimenti lascia stare

La questione sarebbe relativamente semplice se non avessi aggiunto:


Ecco, una buona traduzione al massimo ti farà sondare una buona traduzione del testo ricostruito dei Vangeli. Il "contenuto originario" andrebbe definito, ma qui entriamo davvero in un pozzo senza fondo.
Per semplificare ti direi che traduzioni tipo la "bibbia Tabor" o anche la riedizione della Bibbia di Gerusalemme vanno benissimo per farsi un'idea dei Vangeli (e del resto). Poi chiaramente bisogna vedere esattamente cosa cerchi. Se puoi essere più preciso cerco di aiutarti.

Eppure l'uso del perfetto qui potrebbe indicare proprio quello. Se avesse voluto indicare persone che avevano creduto e continuavano a credere avrebbe usato un presente indicativo. L'uso del perfetto non esclude questa semantica, ma in qualche modo la mitiga.

No, mi scuso io per non aver capito, forse sono ormai disabituato a domande intelligenti. Perché questa senz'altro lo è.

Ora, a occhio, credo che mentre il capitolo è sicuramente un conglomerato di pericopi diverse, questa sezione (vv. 31-58) sembra piuttosto unitaria. Leggendolo in italiano sicuramente esiste una contraddizione, o quantomeno un'ambiguità che richiede una spiegazione. Provo dunque a formulare qualche ipotesi:

- Una possibilità è ci sia una stratificazione di senso nell'espressione "i Giudei" laddove l'estensore del vangelo pensa piuttosto ai giudeo-cristiani del suo tempo (fine I secolo) rispetto alla nozione classica che significa semplicemente "gli abitanti della Giudea" o (con R. Brown) la elite di oppositori religiosi e il sinedrio;

- Un'altra possibilità è che l'autore si riferisca a dei "casual followers" (cito Keener), cioè non proprio dei discepoli ma persone che avevano mostrato interesse per la predicazione di Gesù ma che non avevano poi dato un effettivo seguito all'ascolto;

- Si può infine pensare (con Kysar) che "i giudei" sia un termine usato senza troppa precisione per identificare qualsivoglia uditore con poca (o nessuna) fede. L'incoerenza dell'uso del sintagma mi pare, però meglio spiegata dalla teoria delle molteplici fonti. Qui tuttavia dal punto di vista filologico non solo la pericope mi pare unitaria, ma non ci sono neanche varianti significative nella tradizione manoscritta.

La questione, dunque, rimane aperta.

The following conventions were established as the uniform system of critical signs used in papyrological editions in 1931. It is likely that you may encounter in your readings some of the older conventions. Please, consult a handbook for understanding those older conventions, or see the preface of the editor in that particular papyrus editions where the signs are encountered.

Vittorian questo è un forum di ricerca storica, non un'aula di catechismo. Metto in spoiler questo intervento e invito ad una attenta lettura del regolamento, nell'apposita sezione.


La predicazione di Gesù provocò reazioni pro e contro. Tra questi ultimi c'era senz'altro l'establishment che aveva interessi a mantenere buoni rapporti con i romani e non voleva un'altra sommossa. Dunque si può immaginare una più o meno vasta cerchia di seguaci di divers estrazione ma perlopiù "dal basso" (pur con l'eccezione di personaggi come Nicodemo) e un gruppo di oppositori legati alla casta sacerdotale e/o agli occupanti romani.

È peraltro in uscita in questi giorni un saggio di Canfora sulla "cristianizzazione" del TF.
Il mio vecchio post era riferito al fatto che nulla vieta di ripetere quanto è già stato fatto (se si pensa di poterlo fare meglio), ma bisogna comunque andare con ordine.

Ma certo, sul TF è stato detto davvero tutto

Altri papiri che riportano lo stesso testo sono quelli editi in Pap.Colon. XXVIII 1–8e il Sahid. BM EA 54036.

Il tutto, in modo meno frammentario, è conservato nella recensione etiope della cd. "collezione aksumita", che mi risulta tuttora inedita, ma di cui esistono studi preliminari di Bausi e Fritsch.

Il testo di Mercati (che forse non poteva leggere bene come oggi il papiro) deve essere così corretto:

Da notare una piccola incursione dialettale, con l'articolo copto π alla terza riga.

L'identificazione di quel frammento, infatti, può cambiare di molto quella del Papiro di Strasburgo.
