| I would point out this article, which is available for free on Academia.edu. The author is the creator of the Collate system, used by many for the collation of manuscripts and the automatic generation of a critical apparatus and unrooted stemma, as well. The system has advantages and disadvantages: on the one hand, it creates an apparatus in an automatic way minimizing the possibility of errors, on the other hand, it is not able to have a semantic understanding of the variants. This limitation is particularly evident when dealing with reverse order of the words. What interests me the most is the interaction with LaTeX. At one point, Robinson talks about using EDMAC scripts bundled with Collate. Someone can give me more specific information about this possible interaction between the two systems?
